Baseball: City-Southern Section all-star game is next Saturday

The City-Southern Section All-Star baseball game is set for next Saturday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Balboa Birmingham. Greg Venger of Reseda Cleveland, Scott Pearson of Roosevelt and Julio Colon of Los Angeles are coaching the City, with Juan Velasquez of North Hollywood Campbell Hall and Casey Burrill of Valencia West Ranch coaching the Southern Section.
The City team is expected to be led by members of City champion Chatsworth and runner-up Cleveland, including pitchers Mike Renner and John Wilson.
The Southern Section will have top seniors from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Encino Crespi, Hart, West Ranch, Simi Valley and Newbury Park, among others.
There will be a Louisville Slugger home-run derby at 4:30 p.m.
