Junior right-hander Ryon Healy put the finishing touch on an 11-0 pitching record, throwing a seven-hitter with seven strikeouts and one phantom walk, to help Encino Crespi defeat Huntington Beach, 8-1, in the Southern Section Division II final at Angel Stadium.

Healy also had a two-run single and home run. Josh Mason had a two-run home run and double. Austin Walker had three hits. Crespi (21-11) finished with 14 hits. It was Crespi’s second section title under Coach Scott Muckey.

Healy’s only walk came in the fifth inning when he was ordered by Coach Scott Muckey to throw a pitchout on a 3-and-2 count. Muckey was under the impression the umpire would call a third strike because of a previous pitch that should have been a third strike on a half swing. The umpire called the third strike but later reversed himself after huddling with his crew, and the walk stood. It was only Healy’s 16th walk of the season.

But he’s going home a CIF champion.
