Football: Oaks Christian is making early impression

It’s early in the Dana Hills-San Clemente seven-on-seven passing tournament, but Westlake Village Oaks Christian and Huntington Beach Edison appear headed for a showdown in the Dana Hills bracket, with Encino Crespi and Ventura St. Bonaventure making their way through the San Clemente bracket.

The most impressive player on the field has been sophomore receiver Jordan Payton of Oaks Christian. He’s making catches and also contributing at safety for the Lions.

Edison knocked off Santa Ana Mater Dei earlier in the competition, with receiver-defensive back Jeff Trojan making some big plays.

Crespi quarterback Bryan Bennett has been showing his experience.

I’m predicting an Oaks Christian-Crespi final at 5:45 p.m.
