Thousand Oaks brought respect to the Marmonte League last season by winning a Southern Section championship, and the Lancers were forced to play close games in league play against rival Simi Valley.

Well, Simi Valley continues to make progress under Coach Christian Aurand and knocked off Huntington Beach Ocean View, 60-50, on Sunday in the Crespi tournament, with C.J. Faulwell scoring 22 points and Jonathan Davis getting 18 points.

Faulwell, a senior guard, is a player to root for. He tries so hard, has a 4.2 grade-point average and he lost his father last year to a brain tumor. His performance on Father’s Day would have made his father proud.
