The opening game of the Fairfax tournament Tuesday produced an outstanding individual performance by 6-foot-5 senior Delon Wright of Lawndale Leuzinger. The younger brother of 6-8 Miami Heat forward Dorell Wright scored 26 points in his team’s 84-60 victory over Los Angeles Loyola.

Leuzinger has been on a hot streak in developing late-blooming players such as Dorell Wright and Russell Westbrook, and the younger Wright hopes to join the group.

‘He’s still under the radar,’ Coach Reggie Morris said. ‘He’s waiting on his body to fill out.’

Wright said he has been working on his jump shot and drives to the basket. He said his brother helps him during the summer when he returns to town.

Leuzinger also received 20 points from guard Aqueel Quinn. Leuzinger will get a strong test in a quarterfinal game Thursday at 7 p.m. against defending state Division I champion Westchester, which defeated North Hollywood Campbell Hall’s JV team, 86-19.

Playing for Leuzinger was View Park transfer Joe Singleton.
