Lawndale Leuzinger Coach Reggie Morris is here in Las Vegas watching his players compete in travel ball, and he’s got two players following in the tradition of Russell Westbrook.
Guards Aqeel Quinn and Delon Wright are late bloomers like Westbrook.
‘I’ve never had a physically gifted kid when they were young,’ Morris said. ‘Westbrook was 5-9 with size 14 shoes.’
The 6-foot-3 Quinn broke his leg as a sophomore, missing the season after playing varsity as a freshman. Now a senior, he has grown into his body and is having a terrific summer, with Santa Clara, Long Beach State and San Diego following him.
The 6-4 Wright has outstanding athletic ability and is the brother of Dorell Wright. Both figure to be watched this winter to see how much they continue to grow and improve.
