Los Angeles Franklin has been forced to forfeit its scheduled game tonight at North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake after the City Section refused to allow games to be played east of the 405 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley because of air-quality concerns.

The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety made the decision after evaluating AQMD information. However, Harvard-Westlake officials said they had been watching the same AQMD readings on an hourly basis and believed that the air quality was good enough to play the game.

The City Section would have allowed the game to be played at Franklin, but Harvard-Westlake officials called that idea ‘a joke,’ saying Franklin was closer to the wildfires than its school and that several other games will be played tonight in the same North Hollywood area, such as Los Angeles Loyola-Mira Costa at Valley College and Oaks Christian at Mission Hills Alemany.
