Basketball: Taft gets featured game at Nike Extravaganza

Woodland Hills Taft, expected to challenge Westchester for the City Section Division I championship, has agreed to play in the Nike Extravaganza on Feb. 6 at Santa Ana Mater Dei and will take on St. Patrick’s of New Jersey in the 9 p.m. featured matchup.
The two-day event will have girls’ games on Friday, Feb. 5, followed by boys’ games on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Friday’s girls’ schedule: Santa Margarita vs. Long Beach Wilson, 3 p.m.; Orange Lutheran vs. Cajon, 4:30 pm.; JSerra vs. La Jolla Country Day, 6 p.m.; Villa Park vs. Woodbridge, 7:30 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. Chicago Whitney, 9 p.m.
Saturday’s boys’ schedule: Servite vs. Westminster, 8 a.m.; Villa Park vs. JSerra, 9;30 a.m.; St. John Bosco vs. Colony, 11 a.m.; Los Alamitos vs. Upland, 12:30 p.m.; Torrey Pines vs. Santa Margarita, 2 p.m.; Ocean View vs. Orange Lutheran, 4 p.m.; Fairfax vs. Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler, 5:30 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, 7 p.m.; Taft vs. St. Patrick’s, 9 p.m.
Tickets for Saturday’s evening session will be $12 for general admission and $22 for reserved.
