Homecoming games are supposed to be fun for the home team. The alumni come back and expect to see their team win, so that’s why scheduling a certain victory is usually the way to go.

So understand that Mission Hills Alemany is feeling a little disrespect in that North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake is having its homecoming game Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with Alemany (3-1) the opponent.

This is the same Alemany team that made Westlake Village Oaks Christian sweat in its opener and the same team that knocked off City Section power Woodland Hills Taft last week. Add to that, running back Malcolm Marable has more than held his own going against Malcolm Jones and D.J. Morgan.

Harvard-Westlake (2-0) gets the chance to see how good it is. The Wolverines have beaten Lynwood, 24-0, and Rosemead, 42-0. And people will get the opportunity to see improving Harvard-Westlake sophomore running back Jamias Jones, who set a school record last week with a 96-yard touchdown run, one of four he scored.

Harvard-Westlake spokesman Terry Barnum said Saturday was the only available date to hold homecoming because of SATs and other scheduling conflicts. Barnum, an Alemany grad, said he will be rooting for Harvard-Westlake.
