Football: Arleta-Poly matchup should produce points

The scoreboard operator for Friday’s East Valley League showdown between host Arleta (3-1, 1-0) and Sun Valley Poly (3-1, 1-0) figures to be busy. The first team to score 49 points might win.

Arleta has scored 43, 42, 64 and 63 points in its four games. Poly has scored 45, 43, 58 and 40 points.

Poly junior running back Kevin Ervin has rushed for 869 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. Canyon Country Canyon transfer Antonio Bray is just warming up for Arleta, gaining 163 yards in a 63-12 win over Reseda Cleveland on Friday.

What’s interesting is that Arleta Coach Jeff Engilman is a Poly graduate, as is Arleta quarterback Coach Fred Grimes.

Game time is 3:30 p.m.
