Four things stood out in the second quarter of the Moorpark-Newbury Park game. The Musketeers lead 21-0.

1. The game was delayed by about 30 minutes while Newbury Park’s Justin Southon lay on the ground. There aren’t any details available yet involving his injury, including how it happened, what the injury is and the severity of it. Nontheless, the ambulance arrived and he was taken off the field on a stretcher. The injury occurred after Moorpark tailback Austin Edmonson had a 29-yard run to Newbury Park’s 5-yard line just over 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter.

2. Edmonson ran for all three of the Musketeers’ touchdowns. He has 12 carries for 70 yards.

3. Newbury Park tailback Cameron Roberson has only five carries for two yards. He entered tonight’s game with 494 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

4. Panthers quarterback Jake Geringer finished the first half nine-of-16 for 165 yards with one interception. But the lack of a running game has slowed down the offense.
