If you don’t want to wait until March to see Westchester take on Woodland Hills Taft in boys’ basketball, then Dec. 5 might be the date to mark down. That’s the night for the championship game of the Westchester Tip-Off Classic, and guess which two teams are favored to reach the 7:30 p.m. final?

Taft, runner-up in last season’s City Championship game, is in the bottom bracket of the 16-team tournament, and defending City Section champion Westchester is in the top.

Also in the tournament is probably the No. 3 team in the City Section, Los Angeles Crenshaw, which could face Westchester in the Dec. 4 semifinals.

It’s a great early-season tournament that could influence playoff seedings, depending on how the teams fare.

It begins on Monday, Nov. 30 with first-round games.
