Football: Nixon’s 65-yard run extends Vikings’ lead

After being held in check for the first half, Trashaun Nixon broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown run on the third play of the third quarter and suddenly Hueneme leads host Hart 16-7 in a Northern Division first-round game at College of the Canyons.

The Vikings lined up in a Wildcat formation on third-and-4 and Nixon scampered around left end and raced untouched to the end zone. Hart picked up two first downs on its first drive of the half but quarterback CJ Reyes was sacked on third down and the Indians had to punt.

Hueneme will take over at its own 6-yard line with 8:39 left in the third quarter.
