Football: Carson into semifinals with 31-7 win

It didn’t quite get its second shutout of the playoffs, but Carson will gladly settle for a 31-7 quarterfinal victory over Locke and a berth in the City Section Division I semifinals.

After blanking 15th-seeded Santee 49-0 in their opener last week, the Colts almost did the same to No. 7 Locke, which scored its only touchdown with 1:35 left in the fourth quarter.

With Narbonne comfortably ahead of Venice late in the fourth quarter, it looks like Carson will be hosting the Gauchos in an all-Marine League semifinal game next week.

Carson won the teams’ regular season meeting 41-28 at Narbonne.
