Boys’ basketball: McKnight ties section record for victories

Santa Ana Mater Dei gave its veteran coach, Gary McKnight, his 829th career victory Monday night with a 93-69 win over Anaheim Loara, tying McKnight with former Oxnard Santa Clara Coach Lou Cvijanovich for most victories by a coach in the Southern Section.

Gary Franklin Jr. had 29 points for Mater Dei, including eight three-pointers.
