Narbonne leads 21-14 at halftime over Carson because it followed the lead of New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick, going for it on fourth-and-two.

But this play call worked.

Late in the second quarter, the Gauchos went for it on fourth-and-two on their own 14-yard line and drew Carson offsides.

Five plays later, quarterback Chad Dashnaw ran in for a one-yard touchdown, capping a drive that featured senior tailback Melvin Davis breaking through for a 63-yard run. Following the extra point, Narbonne had a 21-14 lead with 2:02 remaining.

Carson had a shot to tie it up and hard marched down to the 13-yard line with 25.8 seconds left after senior quarterback Daniel Torres connected with Myles Johnson for a 27-yard pass. A Narbonne personal foul penalty advanced Carson to the 10-yard line with 7.2 seconds left.

But two consecutive incompletions set up a 26-yard field goal attempt with .8 seconds remaining. Juan Sanchez’s kick sailed to the right as time expired, allowing the Gauchos to hold onto the lead for now.
