Jon Mack has agreed to become the football coach at Encino Crespi after three years of being the head coach at Ventura College. He will be introduced to players at an afternoon meeting.

It’s a huge victory for the Celts to successfully lure a coach with the stature of Mack, who had a 163-47-1 record in 17 years at Ventura St. Bonaventure and won seven Southern Section championships until his decision to switch to the college level.

His return to high school coaching adds to the talent-rich private-school coaching roster in the Serra League and Trinity League. Earlier this week, Harry Welch was hired as the new coach at Santa Margarita.

Now the focus turns to Los Angeles Loyola, which has been taking a slow, deliberate process in filling its coaching vacancy.
