With three weeks left in the regular season, it’s time for basketball teams to start making a push in preparation for the playoffs, and there are some big games this weekend.

It all starts with the Mission League showdown on Friday night at Los Angeles Loyola between the Cubs (17-1), ranked No. 6 by The Times, and No. 10 North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake (14-4).

On Saturday at Fairfax in the State Preview Classic, No. 5 Los Angeles Price (18-2) faces No. 18 Los Angeles Crenshaw (12-2) at 6:30 p.m. and No. 4 Gardena Serra (20-1) takes on No. 8 Woodland Hills Taft (14-3) at 8 p.m.

Price won’t be getting any help this season from Compton Dominguez transfer Norvel Pelle, who was denied eligibility by the Southern Section on Jan. 4.
