Barbara Fiege, the City Section commissioner of athletics, told a meeting of athletic directors on Thursday that a $25 transportation fee for any student who participates in high school athletics is under consideration for the next school year.

The City Section is already facing a likely $1.4 million cut from its sports budget for coaching stipends. Fiege said no final decision has been made, but individual schools could be the ones deciding how to make cuts within their program.

Fiege also announced that the Los Angeles Unified School District has given approval for coaches to work with athletes out of their seasons, which the Southern Section previously adopted. But stipulations still need to be added before it is allowed.
