With one week left in the regular season, Long Beach Poly, ranked No. 2 behind Santa Ana Mater Dei in Southern Section Division 1AA, welcomed back its top player, Shelton Boykin, who was sidelined for eight games and five weeks with a broken wrist.

He has played in two games, and it’s important he get back at full strength if the Jackrabbits expect to challenge the Monarchs and Corona Centennial for the section title.

Poly played Mater Dei over the summer and fall and certainly has the athletes to compete.
