In another sign that the private schools are going all-out to hire the top coaches, Torrance Bishop Montgomery has chosen Ed Hodgkiss, the former coach of the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League, to be its new football coach.

The Daily Breeze reported that former Loyola Coach Jeff Kearin was a finalist. Hodgkiss takes over a program that was 1-9 last season.

He was the Arena Football League coach of the year in 2003 and 2005.
