Boys’ basketball: Etiwanda is holding its own

No. 3-seeded Corona Centennial is finding out that host Etiwanda is well-prepared in this Southern Section Division 1AA quarterfinal game. Etiwanda leads, 15-14, with 2:33 left in the first quarter.

So far, Etiwanda is not backing away from challenging the Huskies up and down the court. Centennial is super quick in the transition game, but Etiwanda is fighting back.

USC-bound junior Byron Wesley got off to a hot start, making his first three shots, including a three-pointer. USC-bound junior Gelaun Wheelwright from Centennial has scored three baskets. USC assistant Bob Cantu is in the bleachers watching.

Centennial guard Michael Caffey has been finding openings on the fast break and has scored six points.
