Boys’ basketball: Compton Centennial wins, 78-70

Compton Centennial is moving on to the Division 3A finals after a 78-70 victory over Harvard-Westlake at Lynwood High.

Deonte Burton led the way for the Apaches with 24 points while Kevin Smith and Thomas Hammock each added 15 and Kurt Davis chipped in 11.

Erik Swoope had 24 points, Damiene Cain had 19, Austin Kelly had 12 and Nate Bulluck added 10 for the Wolverines, who had their 23-game winning streak snapped.

Centennial made 11 three-pointers and overcame a 39-34 halftime deficit.
