Girls’ basketball: Serra leads 36-20 at halftime

After being outscored 22-6 in the first quarter, Cerritos Valley Christian played even with Gardena Serra in the second quarter but trails 36-20 at halftime of this afternoon’s Southern Section Division 5AA final at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana.
Megan Wright has 14 points and has made 4 of 5 three-point tries and Bria Richardson has 6 points, 5 assists and three steals for the top-seeded Cavaliers (24-7), who have outrebounded Valley Christian 24-13.

Kari Korver has 7 points and 3 steals so far for the second-seeded Crusaders (25-6).
