De’Andre Daniels of Taft has come out focused, scoring nine points in the first quarter to give the Toreadors a 15-13 lead over Leuzinger.

It’s a fast-paced Southern California Division I quarterfinal game. Neither team is backing down from attacking.

Delon Wright of Leuzinger had two blocks in the early going to make Taft players think twice when he’s in the vicinity. There only two baskets scored in the entire game in the first 4 1/2 minutes. Missed shots, turnovers and blocked shots was the reason.

Leuzinger’s full-court press was causing Taft problems. The Toreadors were called for a 10-second violation and gave up a dunk on a steal.

But they were being aggressive on offense, and Leuzinger had seven fouls with one minute left in the quarter.
