The new $700,000 baseball field under construction for North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake has achieved an important milestone. Bermuda sod was finally placed on the infield and most of the outfield this week, starting the countdown when the Wolverines can start using the field in Encino.

It will take four weeks before the team receives clearance, and Coach Matt LaCour is focusing on an April 13 game against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame as a possible debut game on the field. Rain caused construction delays.

The new scoreboard is up but outfield fencing and the backstop behind home plate still needs to be finished. A batting facility in right field needs fixing because neighbors complained about its height, so the roof will be lowered.

Here’s a video at how the field looked when construction began in the fall and how it looked on Tuesday.
