Boys’ basketball: L.A. Windward 37, La Verne Lutheran 36

The Division V boys’ regional final is living up to expectations as being an evenly-matched game. L.A. Windward has a 37-36 lead over La Verne Lutheran after three quarters.

These two teams played to a one-point game earlier this month, and this one looks like it’s going down to the wire.

Bruce English, who beat Windward with a last-second shot in the Southern Section Division 5AA final, got hot in the third quarter, making two baseline jumpers.

Windward led by as many as five points in the quarter. Freshman Chauncey Hill, after being scoreless in the first half, became more aggressive inside and had three baskets for Windward.
