Baseball: Metal vs. wood debate in Northern California

A debate is taking place in Northern California about metal bats vs. wood bats after Gunnar Sandberg of Marin Catholic was seriously injured when hit in the head on March 11 by a line drive off a metal bat.

Here’s a story from the Press Democrat that explains the issue and why Marin Catholic will be using wood bats the rest of the season, including next week’s National Classic in Orange County.
