The local teams haven’t been very kind to the out-of-town teams in the Diamond Sports National Classic. Marin Catholic, Salt Lake City Cottonwood, Bradenton (Fla.) Pendleton, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep -- they all lost in the opening round on Monday.

Pendleton is the team from the IMG Academies. It lost to Placentia El Dorado, 3-2.

The only remaining non-SoCal team with the chance to advance to the championship bracket is Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe, which plays West Covina South Hills on Tuesday morning. The best game Tuesday should be Anaheim Esperanza taking on Encino Crespi at 7 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton. Here’s Tuesday’s schedule.

UPDATE: Salpointe defeated South Hills, 4-1.
