Baseball: Banning passes first Marine League test

Wilmington Banning is one of the favorites to go deep into the City Section baseball playoffs, and the Pilots (11-5) passed their first major test in the Marine League, beating Harbor City Narbonne, 3-1, in their league opener.
All-City pitcher Jonathan Hernandez (4-2) struck out seven in six innings. San Pedro (12-2) defeated Carson, 2-1.
