Los Angeles Fairfax baseball Coach Rocky Sherwood, a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department, was in desperate need for donations to help buy equipment and supplies for the Lions’ baseball program, so he turned to one of his police brothers, the El Monte Police Officers’ Assn.

They donated $2,500 to the Lions’ program. Fairfax had a game delayed earlier this season because one of the bases was considered unsafe, so the Lions had to borrow a base from the softball team.

Sherwood said he’s grateful for the donation.
