Carly Mortensen had nine strikeouts and only gave up three hits and two walks to lead Valencia (16-3-1) to a 4-0 victory over Norco (13-6) in the title game of the Michelle Carew Classic on Saturday at Peralta Park in Anaheim.

In the last four days of the tournament, the sophomore had 52 strikeouts in five victories. She threw no-hitters against Glendora St. Lucy’s and Mission Viejo Aliso Niguel, and had shutouts in the semifinal and final games.

Senior shortstop Madison Shipman went three for four with three RBIs for Valencia, which avenged its loss to Norco in last season’s championship game at the Bullhead City tournament in Arizona.
