Simi Valley senior Amanda Oliveto has been named one of ESPN Rise’s players of the week after she reportedly pitched the first perfect game in the 31-year history of the prestigious Best of the West tournament on April 7 in Santa Maria.

Oliveto’s standout performance came in the championship game against Alemany. She had 11 strikeouts to lift Simi Valley (16-2) to a 3-0 victory.

UNLV-bound, she’s 5-1 and has 55 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched. Oliveto was the team’s starting pitcher two years ago as a sophomore, when the Pioneers went undefeated until a loss in the Southern Section Division 1 title game.
