Baseball: Alemany sophomore topples No. 1 Crespi

On Friday night, Mission Hills Alemany sophomore pitcher Cody Thompson came through with a complete game, giving up only two hits while striking out four to lift the Warriors past No. 1 Encino Crespi, 4-1, in a Mission League game at Birmingham.

Sergio Plascencia broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth with a two-run double. Alemany improved to 15-5 and 4-2. Crespi fell to 16-4 and 4-2.

West Hills Chaminade took over first place in the Mission League with a 6-5 win over St. Francis. It was Chaminade’s 11th consecutive victory. Leading the Eagles (15-3, 5-1) was Mathew Troupe, who went two for three and got the save. Michael Dingilian drove in the winning run in the seventh.

In an important Trinity League game, Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated Orange Lutheran, 4-2.
