The other schools in Southern Section Division I might be feeling a little uncomfortable if Huntington Beach Edison has found a No. 2 pitcher to support ace Henry Owens.

Nic Hanson filled the role on Friday, throwing a three-hitter in the Chargers’ 1-0 Sunset League victory over Los Alamitos. UCLA-bound junior Eric Snyder hit a home run for the only run of the game. Edison is 12-6 and 6-1 in league.

In the Foothill League, Santa Clarita Golden Valley proved its upset victory over Valencia West Ranch earlier in the week was no fluke because Golden Valley beat the Wildcats again, 5-4. Newhall Hart received four RBIs from Patrick Valaika to hand Valencia its first Foothill defeat, 8-3.

In the West Valley League, Kyle Keppel went three for three in El Camino Real’s 14-2 five-inning victory over Birmingham. Keppel went seven for eight in the two-game series. Mitch Bluman picked up the pitching victory and hit a home run. Daniel Dungan and Frank Vidak had three RBIs apiece.

Chatsworth (15-3, 4-0) defeated Cleveland, 4-3. Steve Karkenny came up with his fourth save and had three hits. Taft outlasted Granada Hills, 11-9. Jordan Berger had three hits, including a home run. Alex Sawelson also homered.

In a terrific Sierra League pitching duel, UCLA-bound Adam Plutko came out victorious over Kenny Mathews as Glendora scored three unearned runs in the seventh to beat Diamond Bar, 3-0. Mathews struck out 10 in defeat.

In the Mission League, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 13-0. Sophomore Austin Kamel threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts. Jordan Orringer had three hits and six RBIs.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake defeated Simi Valley, 5-4. Jake Aucelluzzo had two doubles for Simi Valley. In the Camino Real League, L.A. Cathedral (13-3, 6-1) defeated Gardena Serra, 11-3. Sophomore Oscar Leong struck out eight in six innings. Joshua Ibarra and Kyle Merrill had two hits apiece.
