Los Angeles Loyola might want to play at Harvard-Westlake’s new field every game the way the Cubs beat up on the Wolverines Tuesday in the first game at the $700,000 O’Malley Family Field in Encino.

The Cubs came away with 23 hits in a 22-2 Mission League victory. A.J. La Bruna had four hits and five RBIs and Danny Hayes added three hits and five RBIs. Freshman Corey Dempster hit the first home run at the new field.

In the Moore League, Long Beach Wilson knocked off Lakewood, 6-4. Long Beach Millikan beat Long Beach Poly, 6-4, in eight innings, which means four teams are now within striking distance of winning the league title.

Los Angeles Cathedral continues to shine in the Camino Real League in the rookie season for Coach Scott Pearson. Sergio Luna allowed only two hits in a 3-0 Cathedral victory over Bosco Tech. He’s 8-2. Cathedral improved to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in league.
