It looks like I know where I’ll be on Wednesday nights starting in June _ Los Angeles Loyola, which is hosting weekly seven-on-seven passing competitions starting June 16 at 4 p.m.

The first week of teams include City Section powers Venice, Crenshaw and Carson. On June 23, Long Beach Cabrillo, Glendale Hoover and Venice play with the Cubs.

On June 30, it’s L.A. University, La Canada St. Francis and Beverly Hills. On July 7, it’s Westchester, Woodland Hills Taft and Fairfax. On July 14, it’s Garfield, Crenshaw and Dorsey. On July 21, it’s Compton Dominguez, Garfield and Hoover.

It’s good that Loyola’s new coach, Mike Christensen, is continuing the weekly competitions that began under his predecessor. And it’s good that Crenshaw will be testing itself, because last summer’s games helped prepare the Cougars for their memorable 2009 season.
