Granada Hills Kennedy advances to the semifinals

Adrienne Martinez went three for four with three doubles and two RBIs and Ashley Colon went three for four with a homer, a double and two RBIs to help lead host Granada Hills Kennedy to a 10-0 City Section quarterfinal victory over Granada Hills on Wednesday.

‘It turned out to be an easier game than anticipated,’ said Kennedy Coach Craig Becker. ‘Granada is a tough team no matter what.’

Kennedy exploded in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to take an 8-0 advantage. The winning pitcher, Christian Carbajal, had eight strikeouts, three walks and hit two batters.

Kennedy (22-5-1) will face San Pedro (24-7) in a semifinal Friday at 2:30 p.m. at San Pedro High.

‘I’m looking forward to that,’ Becker said. ‘I think we will match up really well.’
