Agoura junior Jonathan Cabral, running on his favorite track, won the Southern Section Division 3 championship in the 110 high hurdles Saturday at Cerritos College with a time of 13.58 seconds, the second-fastest clocking in the nation this season and fastest in California.

‘I was really good technique wise,’ he said. ‘I didn’t hit any of the hurdles.’

In an upset in the girls’ Division 2 hurdles, Brea Buchanan of Chino Hills Ayala defeated Stanford-bound Kori Carter of Claremont. Buchanan finished in 13.82. Carter had a slow start and couldn’t overcome it.
