Baseball: It’s a Mater Dei-Dana Hills Division 1 final

Santa Ana Mater Dei has earned a trip to the Southern Section Division 1 championship game after a 10-0 victory over Simi Valley Royal.

The Monarchs will play Dana Hills in Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. final at The Diamond at Lake Elsinore.

Cory Hahn (13-1) allowed two hits in five innings. He also had a triple and double. Ty Moore finished with two shutout innings. Royal struggled throughout with its fielding, making five errors.

A four-run fifth inning and 13 hits overall propelled the Monarchs (19-10), who have come a long ways since losing their opening game of the season, 17-2.

Since Hahn pitched only five innings, he’ll have five innings left if the Monarchs decide to use him on Saturday.
