Baseball: VIBL schedule begins with wood bats

The 31-team Valley Invitational Baseball League begins Monday, and the entire season will feature players using wooden bats.
I’ve never seen pitchers more excited. It’s as if they’re looking forward to pitching inside and breaking bats. Oh, and they probably think no one is going to hit a home run off them.
It’s going to be quite a test case to see how players adjust. I went to Alemany High and talked to a couple pitchers, and they were giddy.
