Football: Spruce is off to Oregon and Stanford this week

Nelson Spruce, the Westlake Village Westlake receiver who was earning rave reviews from Long Beach Poly players at the Saugus tournament on Saturday, is going to Oregon and Stanford this week for camps.

Don’t be surprised if he comes away with a scholarship offer. Then maybe USC and UCLA will start paying a little more attention.

Westlake quarterback Nick Isham is going to a camp at Utah.

Westlake, which won the Saugus tournament championship, is playing in the Conejo Valley tournament this weekend, but the Warriors are expected to hold out some of their starters in preparation for the July 10 tournament at Huntington Beach Edison, where they will be at full strength.
