Baseball: Owens, Lopes make U.S. 18U national team

Huntington Beach Edison is the only high school team in the nation to have had two players selected on the 20-man roster for the U.S. 18U national team that will play July 23-Aug. 1 at the World Junior Championships in Thunder Bay, Canada.

Pitcher Henry Owens and shortstop Christian Lopes, both seniors to be, were named to the team.

Also on the team is outfielder Michael Lorenzen, a Fullerton graduate.

Players tried out in Cary, N.C. Prior to the World Junior Championships, the team will travel to New York for exhibitions.
