You might need a helicopter to travel to all the seven-on-seven passing tournaments scheduled throughout the Southland on the biggest and best weekend of the summer.

It starts on Friday with the eight-team St. Francis tournament. St. Francis, Moorpark, Simi Valley Royal, Pasadena, Glendale, Pasadena Poly, La Canada and Crescenta Valley are entered.

But the real action begins on Saturday. The 16-team Huntington Beach Edison tournament usually produces the No. 1 passing team of the summer, and that should be the case again, with Westlake Village Westlake, Santa Ana Mater Dei, Temecula Chaparral, Oaks Christian, West Covina South Hills and Corona Centennial among the schools participating.

At the Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe tournament, Encino Crespi, Los Angeles Loyola and Lakewood lead a large contingent of schools. Mission Viejo is hosting a tournament that includes Long Beach Poly. Los Angeles Valley College has a tournament, led by Ventura St. Bonaventure and Los Angeles Dorsey. And Oxnard Rio Mesa has a tournament that includes Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park.

And at Corona, Orange Lutheran is participating in a passing tournament.

Gardena Serra is playing Thursday and Friday in Oregon at a national tournament.
