Football: Jordan Payton won’t be playing in Marmonte opener

Standout receiver-defensive back Jordan Payton from Westlake Village Oaks Christian has been declared out of Friday night’s Marmonte League football opener against Ventura St. Bonaventure because of an ankle injury.

Coach Bill Redell decided it was too much of a risk to let Payton play. He wants to make sure he has him for later games that could decide if the Lions make the Northern Division playoffs.

I’ll be blogging from the Oaks Christian-St. Bonaventure game that starts at 7:30 p.m.
