Left-handed pitcher Max Fried from Van Nuys Montclair Prep and right-handed pitcher-outfielder Ty Moore from Santa Ana Mater Dei are two of the best junior baseball players in Southern California, and UCLA Coach John Savage made a pitch for both on Saturday when they attended the Bruins’ football game against Houston as part of a junior day.

Both are still taking recruiting visits, but the pressure is growing to make a college decision because schools are taking commitments sooner than ever even though they can’t sign a letter of intent until November of 2011 at the earliest. Moore said he still has two out-of-state visits to take.
