OK, the tough nonleague games are over with, and now it’s time for some City Section teams to start having fun.

Carson, Woodland Hills Taft and Harbor City Narbonne took their best shots at Southern Section schools, won some, lost some and now they should be better in league play. And that experience should help come playoff time.

Taft (2-3) has gained so much from facing the likes of Mission Hills Alemany, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Encino Crespi. Quarterback Michael Bercovici, thanks to the strong competition, has gained in stature and respect. ‘That quarterback is phenomenal,’ Crespi Coach Jon Mack said of Bercovici.

Taft lost to Dorsey in a season-opening game, but I don’t know who I would pick in a rematch because that’s how much the Toreadors have benefited from their nonleague schedule.

Ditto for Carson and Narbonne. They’re headed for a Marine League showdown.

So don’t let a couple of losses hide the fact Carson, Taft and Narbonne are good teams.
