The football season is almost over for Bellflower St. John Bosco and running back DaVonte Young, who still hasn’t been cleared to play.

Last week, Young had his appeal hearing. He transferred from Irvine to Tustin, then was declared ineligible by the Southern Section. He transferred to St. John Bosco and is once again trying to get eligible.

The problem is St. John Bosco probably won’t make the Pac-5 playoffs, so the Braves are down to their final two games. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Young became eligible this week?

Whatever happens, he’ll be a junior next season and should be a top player for the Braves. He rushed for 1,615 yards as a freshman at Irvine.
