What better place for a football game on Veteran’s Day than Veterans Memorial Stadium in Long Beach, where Los Alamitos faces Huntington Beach Edison tonight to decide the Sunset League championship.

Neither team is currently ranked in The Times’ Top 25 poll, but this figures to be a physical, intense season finale nonetheless. In terms of playoff positioning, there is a lot at stake for both schools and, at least on paper, they appear very evenly matched.

Both teams are 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the Sunset League. Both are riding four-game winning streaks. And each has given up 107 points to its opponents.

Edison captured the league title and Los Alamitos finished second last season. The previous year, Los Alamitos was the champion and Edison the runner up. So will Los Alamitos reclaim the crown or does Edison repeat?

We will find out soon enough. Check back for live blogging of tonight’s contest. Kickoff is at 7:30.
