Grant to honor Halpern, Pentland

Jeff Halpern and Jeff Pentland, both of whom graduated from Van Nuys Grant in the 1960s, will be inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame on Friday at halftime of the Lancers’ game against Sun Valley Poly.

Halpern coached Class B and C basketball for the Lancers, then went on to coach varsity basketball at Van Nuys, Reseda and Birmingham.

Pentland has been a long-time hitting coach in the major leagues and currently works for the Dodgers.
